Millions of books around the world are gifted to children ages birth to 5 years, funded primarily by the international program Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, and locally distributed by the Taos
County Imagination Library.
“The Taos County Imagination Library is a vibrant organization now entering its fourth year,” said Dr. Caryle Zorumski, LPCC, coordinator of the local Imagination Library.
“Every month we give free books to children aged, well, right out of the Delivery Room up to the age of 5,” Zorumski continued. “We’re very optimistic we’ll be growing again, now that the pandemic is lessening. Before COVID, I got a reputation for just walking up to people with babies, in grocery stores, and saying, ‘If you sign up right now, I’ll give you a book!’
“Well obviously that couldn’t happen during COVID. We have six categories of books – babies get little board books and the last one at age 5 is, ‘Look Out Kindergarten, Here I Come!’”
Zorumski said if the weather is nice, TCIL (pronounced ‘tickle’) will be at Taos Farmers Market, opening this Saturday (May 15). So look for their little wagon full of books.
The program has been supported in the past by Taos Community Foundation, Lion’s Club and Taos Rotary, as well as private donations. For more information, go to or call 575751-0449
