These Tigers can swim!

Cats aren’t usually known for their love of water, especially big cats. But there are cases where water is exactly where a Tiger is most comfortable. Take, for instance, the Taos High School swim team who crushed their opponents in an abbreviated schedule this past weekend and swam all the way to the state tourney.
On the boys’ side, Senior Eddie Duran qualified in all three team relay races for the state tournament. He also met a personal goal of qualifying for an individual event. In this case that would be the 100 Meter Freestyle. Duran didn’t stop there. He also set new team records in two events: the 200 Individual Medley and the 100 Meter Fly.
“[It’s] a great way to end a high school swimming career,” said Head Coach Greta Brown in a team email. “For those of you who don’t know, Eddie [Duran] will be swimming on scholarship for Adam State in Alamosa, Colorado. Big congrats!”
The Boys’ A Relay team for the 2021 State Tournament will be Duran, Juan Romo, Estevan Salazar and Dillon Brown. The team finished in the top 16 in the 200 and 400 Free Relay and will compete in those events at
State. Salazar will also compete in the 100 Meter Backstroke.
The THS Tigers’ sole female representative will be Grace Goler, who will compete in the 50 and 100 Meter Freestyle events.
