By MICHAEL TASHJI mtashjo@taosnews.com

The Questa History Trail will host a free, guided tour to celebrate National Trails Day on Saturday, June 5, beginning at 11 a.m. Historian Flavio Cisneros will lead participants on the half-mile hike within the Village of Questa, and through personal memories, community traditions and research, offer new perspectives on the region.

The one-hour tour will start at the village center (intersection of Highways 522 and 38) and proceed to the San Antonio de Padua Church plaza before circling back.

Cisneros, a retired history teacher and oral-history facilitator, will discuss ancestry, geology, archeology, mining, native traditions, rural religious practices and more.

The trail is a project of the Questa Creative Council and is funded by the National Park Services’ Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance program, the Northern Rio Grande National Heritage Area and the New Mexico Humanities Council. Additional support comes from the Questa Economic Development Fund, Chevron and Taos Lodgers Tax.
