TURN YOUR PASSION INTO PROGRESS Culinary Arts/Hospitality

Is a kitchen your happy place? Do you see yourself as a manager or chef one day? Maybe you’ve been working at a restaurant or resort and want to open more doors. The Culinary Arts program is designed for those interested in pursuing a career in the foodservice industry. Its hands-on instruction provides you with the skills needed for a career in Culinary Arts.

Construction Technology

People will always need shelter and you like working with your hands; consider studying Construction Technology. This program provides students with the technical foundation required to compete in today’s construction field. Upon successful completion of the Construction Technology program, you will have the knowledge, skills, and experience to identify, assess, and participate in many entry-level construction trades.

Woodworking

Did you catch the woodworking bug? The UNM-Taos Woodworking program gives you the essential knowledge and basic skills to be successful in your woodworking-experience quest, whether as an employee, self-employed professional, building contractor, or hobbyist.

3D Printing

3D, the latest thing in printing, is a manufacturing process that creates a physical object from a digital model file. This new technology works by adding layer upon layer of material to build up a complete project and is revolutionizing the manufacturing industry. 3D printing is particularly relevant for students in pre-engineering and computer-aided drafting degree programs, but the courses are open to anyone interested in turning a design idea into a real physical product.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

If you want to help people, help your community, and save lives, consider training as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) through the Emergency Medical Services program. As an EMT, you would be a first responder providing a vital service to your community and have an in-demand and rewarding career.

Human Services

Humans helping humans — human services are all about helping people find stability including everything from providing for basic needs like food and shelter to offering guidance, counseling, and substance abuse treatment. This program introduces students to the study and practice of Human Services and provides information about careers in social work, public health, and other social-service endeavors.

Teacher Education Pathways

Ever since you had that memorable teacher who started you thinking about becoming a teacher yourself, we have an education pathway designed for you. Our Teacher Education program is a great entry point into the education field. It’s designed for the student who is planning to enter a bachelor’s program upon completion, or who wants to work as a school aide.

Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

Love the open road? Like the thought of working in an in-demand field? The Commercial Driver’s License program prepares students with the knowledge and ability required to pass the written and driving skills tests. The training helps students become safe and knowledgeable entrants into the commercial-vehicle-driver workforce. Upon successful completion, are equipped with the knowledge and skills to take the exam to be certified for the truck driving industry.

Massage and Holistic Health

Massage therapists promote overall health and wellness in their clients by alleviating stress and physical discomfort. The massage program’s mission is to provide the knowledge and experience that will prepare graduates to sit for the state licensure exam required for entry-level employment in massage therapy. The Integrative Massage Therapy faculty are dedicated to guiding students through the licensure process and to aiding them in obtaining employment.

The Holistic Health and Healing Arts program takes overall health a natural step forward by laying the groundwork for careers in the field while familiarizing students with practices that promote self-healing, longevity, and vitality.

Information Technology/IT Support

Do family and friends often come to you when their computer isn’t working right? Why not turn your skill into a career? The Information Technology Support program teaches students core IT knowledge and technical support skills that lead to in-demand positions with local businesses or remote companies. These courses prepare students to pass tests to obtain a range of industry-recognized credentials, covering topics such as Help Desk support, Systems Administration, Networking, Security, and Cloud Technologies.

Natural Resources Management

The Natural Resources Management program is for students who love the outdoors and want a job taking care of it. If you love fishing, hiking, and camping, then this is the program for you. We provide you with the education you need to understand environments, human impacts, and management approaches to protect and preserve wildlife, water, and land resources.

Anthropology/Archaeology

This program presents core concepts and methods of cultural anthropology that are used to understand the ways in which human beings organize and experience their lives through distinctive cultural practices. It ultimately aims to present a broad range of perspectives and practices of various cultural groups from across the globe. (Area of focus in the Liberal Arts Program)

Chicana/Chicano Studies

Does the exploration of Chicana/o historical, political, social, and cultural dimensions interest you? This program provides students with the chance to study the experiences, values, cultural representations, and socioeconomic issues of the Chicana/o community. It includes a look at the Mexican-American experience in the U.S., with special reference to New Mexico. (Area of focus in the Liberal Arts Program)

Fine Arts/Studio Arts/Digital Media Arts

Taos is art. Art is Taos. These programs include a variety of studio disciplines including art practices, drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, metals, photography, and printmaking, as well as art history courses. The Fine Arts and Digital Media Program is committed to engaging students in a rich dialogue on contemporary art and art history. Students learn traditional foundations, contemporary applications of materials, interdisciplinary practice, and conceptual problem-solving. Students are supported in following their personal goals beyond community college, whether that’s earning a higher degree or working within the Taos art community and farther artistic reaches.
