Patricia “Pat” Claire Grimes Shriver

Was born November 1, 1924 in Des Moines, Iowa and passed away peacefully on January 3, 2022. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother who is survived by two of her three sons: Dana Cattell Shriver (Donna), and William Carl Shriver, along with her seven grandchildren: Rachel Lewis, Benjamin Shriver, Dallas Shriver, Patrick Shriver, Jonathan Shriver, Patricia Shriver, Lennon Shriver and three great-grandchildren: Landon Lewis, Enzo Shriver and Max Shriver. Patricia was the youngest of 10 children and was preceded in death by her parents, Marion Grimes and Carl Grimes, seven sisters, two brothers, her husband of 68 years, Max Demar Shriver and middle son, Jonathan Demar Shriver (widow Marcia). Pat graduated from William Woods college in Fulton, Missouri and was a flight attendant for Mid-Continental Airlines, Inc., prior to her marriage to Max. Pat and Max shared a love of antique furniture, western art, and travel. During their years in Connecticut, Kansas City, Taos & Santa Fe, NM, and Tubac, AZ they collected many wonderful pieces. They opened ‘The Shriver Gallery of Western Art’ in Kansas City, MO in 1969 then purchased the Gaspard House in Taos, NM, in 1970 and relocated the gallery to Taos. They eventually moved the’ Shriver Galley’ to North Pueblo Road. The ‘Shriver Gallery’ was sold in the nine-teen eighties which enabled Patricia and Max to enjoy traveling to many destinations around the world and restoring multiple homes in Alamos, Mexico. Pat & Max first visited Tubac in 1972 with long time friends for a golfing weekend and fell in love with the area and purchased a townhome that was yet to be built. During the past, almost 50 years, they have owned multiple homes in the Country Club area and buildings in the Tubac Village while continuing to spend time in Taos, Santa Fe, and Alamos. Pat loved her family and friends dearly - as they have loved her. Due to Patricia’s wishes of ‘do nothing’, the COVID-19 pandemic and distance of many family members with limited travel options and in support of ‘social distancing’ a face to face “Celebration of Life” will not be held. The family will be making donations, in memory of Pat, to several local non-profits.
