Beatrice Deveaux

It is with extreme sadness that the Deveaux Family announce the passing of Beatrice D. Deveaux on January 3, 2022, in Taos, New Mexico. Beatrice was born in Taos on April 19, 1924 to Louisa and Joseph A. DesGeorges. She is preceded in death by her parents and seven of her nine siblings: Joe, Pat, Eddie, Louis and Ernest DesGeorges, Juanita Montoya and Margaret Cordoba. She is also preceded in death by her adoring husband of 66 years, Dr. Reynaldo M. Deveaux. Beatrice is survived by her children Yolanda, Albert (Alice), Rey (Sherry), and Mary Deveaux, her grandchildren, Adriana (Keir), Alyda, Alexsis, and Alejandro Blake, Damon Deveaux, Alicia (Jared) Krieger and Christina (Jerome) Lucero, her great-grandchildren Max and Simon Mount, Huck, Tyrone and Ella Green, Evan and Sloan Deveaux, Ethan Krieger, Marisa Romero, Sophia, Jerome and Jeremiah Lucero, siblings Marian Gusdorf and Joseph (Kathy) DesGeorges, extended family Wes, Katie and Nyla Edling and many other relatives and friends. During World War II Beatrice worked in the rationing office in Taos. While raising her four children, Beatrice still found time to assist her husband with his over 40-year medical practice and participate in many philanthropic and social organizations. She and Dr. Deveaux enjoyed traveling to other countries together and with friends. After her eldest brother died, she took on the task of managing her parents’ estate. She loved taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Active well into her nineties, Beatrice most enjoyed spending time with family and friends and long walks and hikes. She will be fondly remembered for the warm gatherings she hosted, her love of family, sweet and loving nature, and her delicious home cooking, especially the chicken mole she made at Christmas.
