An exception amid the campaign cacophony

I wonder if most of the state’s candidates realize what damage they are doing to themselves and to the system itself.

The moment I see their ads on screen I hit “mute” because I know I will only hear more hate, distortion and negativity. I’ll learn nothing illuminating about their platforms. And I will watch the divisiveness among us deepen further. How many people are turned off to the process altogether?

On the other hand, U.S. Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández is one of the few candidates who has managed to discuss her ideas, rather than the failings of her opponents. Now, if only the others would follow her lead.
