Free Kid’s Event at Secolive Stage

is Saturday (Sept. 24) from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Families are invited to join a celebration of Santa Fe author Joan Gauscheman’s book release of “How I Lay Me Down To Sleep.” There will be a play of the book and a children’s altar-building workshop. 48th annual Taos Arts Festival at UNM-Taos Bataan Hall, 120 Civic Plaza Drive, is from Friday (Sept. 23) through Sunday (Oct. 2). Music, dancing, drumming, living history and other events start at 3 p.m. Doors to the gallery open at 5 p.m. There will also be free drinks and discover art with the option to purchase.

Glam Trash Fashion Show

Making Mischief Revisited is a popup art exhibit featuring mixed-media paintings and sculptural work by mother and daughter artists Ricky Pass and Tara Kelley-Cruz. The exhibit runs Friday, Oct. 14 through Sunday, Oct. 16. An Artist’s Reception is Friday, Oct. 14 from 4-7 p.m. with refreshments and libations served.

“Mischievous Morning” from 10 a.m. to noon, is Saturday, Oct. 15, for donuts and coffee, where visitors of all ages will be encouraged to make their own mischief as they contribute to the “Community Mischief — Wild Woman Wall,” a growing installation developed over the weekend. Bra Drive For the duration of the pop-up, exhibition, Pass and Kelley-Cruz will be hosting a Bra Drive for “Free the Girls”, an organization that helps women rescued from sex trafficking all over the world to integrate back into their communities. • Taos Youth Ensemble is seeking young actors, all levels of experience, with a passion to perform and commit to a six-month process in creating an original production to be staged at the TCA: “Adventures of a Young Daydreamer.” Classes meet every Saturday, starting in October, with two different age groups scheduled: Junior (ages 6-10), 1-2 p.m.; Senior (ages 11 and up), 2-4 p.m. Improv, theater games, development of craft, characterbuilding, dance, movement, and more, are aspects of the ongoing process bringing to life this theatrically epic adventure. • True Kids 1: From Photo to Video Editing Lab with Pete Monro, Grades 6 through 9, started Thursday (Sept. 8). Students get an introduction into Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Premiere to get a strong handle on the basics as well as learn some of the more advanced tricks of the trade. • Stop-Motion Animation with Dani Cervantes makes the impossible possible with stopmotion animation. Through a simple phone app students can bring action figures to life, turn a ball of clay or a piece of foil into a living breathing character. • Leis’s Wood/Metal A new solo exhibition by Marietta Patricia Leis is on view in the Fechin Studio through Oct. 16. Curated by Stefan Jennings Batista, the show highlights the synergistic approach shared by distinct but kindred artists Leis and Nicolai Fechin. Leis is a multimedia artist and poet. Her work extends beyond traditional painting to drawings, prints, photography, videos, installations and constructions.

• Oils and photographs by Gail Russell are at Wild Sage Gallery, 129 Kit Carson. A longtime Taos resident, she is named a Taos Living Master for her photography and honored among the Remarkable Women of Taos. Her book ‘Spirit in Form’ recently won the Eric Hoffer 2022 book award and is available at the gallery. • A Part of the Earth at Millicent Rogers Museum, 1504 Millicent Rogers Road, is a new two-part exhibition showcasing new MRM acquisitions. Part One is on view through Jan. 8, 2023.

• New Beginnings: “An American Story of Romantics and Modernists in the West” exhibit features over 100 works of artists impressions of New Mexico. Created over the course of a century from the late 1800s to 1900s, it is on loan from Santa Fe’s Tia Collection, at the Harwood Museum, 238 Ledoux Street until Sept. 25.

• Debbie Long: Light Ships at Harwood Museum, 238 Ledoux Street, connects viewers to the rhythms of light and shadow, and to expanding cycles of nature. Willa, a 1970s recreational vehicle that has been fashioned with organic glass castings that act as portals to the natural world beyond, opens for 15-minute glimpses on a first-come, first-served basis.

• Heads Pop-up Shop has new and used vinyls, cassettes, CDs and DVDs, music supplies and more. Pop-Up Shop is Fridays and Saturdays through September from noon to 6 p.m at Revolt Gallery, 222 Paseo del Pueblo Norte.
