Taos News reporter receives conservation journalism award

Taos Soil and Water Conservation District Manager Peter Vigil presented the district's Conservation Media Award for excellence in conservation journalism to Taos News Senior Reporter Geoffrey Plant during the district's annual meeting last week. Vigil and the district's Board of Supervisors recognized Plant's ‘factual' and balanced reporting in his March 23 story, ‘Between two wolves.'

‘I have been district manager for 25 years, and I have been through dozens of reporters,' Vigil told the annual gathering of ranchers, farmers and conservationists. 'This year, there was a story about the wolf, which is a very controversial subject. I said to myself, that's a damn good piece of journalism.'
