Kit Carson Electric reaches cybersecurity milestone

Kit Carson Electric Cooperative (KCEC) has completed level one of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s (NRECA) Co-op Cyber Goals Program. The company has implemented 10 fundamental measures of cybersecurity preparedness, which will help to protect the co-op and the industry electricity grid from cyber threats.

Staff members at the co-op recently attended an NRECA Cybertech Conference. The three-day technical conference was for all NRECA members and supporting organizations to address cybersecurity in the cooperative space. Conference content specifically highlighted co-op internet and was designed to provide opportunities for peer-to-peer and industry-to-peer collaboration, skills development and advancement.

Kit Carson Electric has been hosting Northern New Mexico Cybersecurity Council meetings to discuss cybersecurity with businesses and community members. The last meeting was on Wednesday (May 24).
