The Comanches

Green Horn:

From the east to west horizons, From the south to northern cold Rings the blast of that bright trumpet Where doth reign my steal so bold.

I do battle daring, last, And such is the valor reigning Here within my breast, held fast. Increased flags to wind unfurl Turning round and round about More than those I did attribute. I, the daring, stop and flout, I devour the most intrepid. With my bravery admire There be no rock nor no mountain Which does not yield to my fire, Every youth scorned and rejected, Everyone that’s thus abased, To this end is brought by fortune To this wretched state effaced. There be no township nor place name Undefeated verily

By my proud and haughty nation At this time you all can see, You shall see this all too shortly. This imposing fortress here All this, I’ll reduce to rubble. Full-abased and beaten clear. With its stones and bulwarks slanted Although in preparedness, And with all the inconvenience Of a sudden heedlessness, All the more stalwart the courage Which our fighters do possess I can certify and witness As their own fame doth express, With full shouts from their headquarters.

Let the Caslana Apaches, As so many nations claim Whose own sovereignty I’ve taken. Now, by slow degrees the same Pueblos shiver at my prowess, When they find =themselves engaged

And then fleeing from my fury. Dwindling their courage waged.
