Ruth Herrera de Martinez

She passed away on February 18, 2023, 61 days shy of her 79th birthday after a long struggle with cancer. Ruth was born on April 24, 1944 to Liberato Lafayette Herrera and Rose Payne-Cordova, both of whom preceded her in death. Her son James Christopher Martinez also preceded her in death on November 22, 2019. She is survived by her daughter, Laura Camille Martinez, and son, Robert (Christine) Miera, as well as step-grandchildren Felicia LopezBoyd, Delilah Lopez and Mariah Lopez-Romero, step-great-grandchildren A.J. Avila, Javier Romero, Killian Boyd and Lola Lopez. She is also survived by two brothers, Ben (Virginia) Herrera and Amos (Pauline) Herrera, two sisters, Ramona Montaño and Deborah Herrera-Smith, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held at El Pueblito Cemetery in Questa, New Mexico at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023.
